Alex's Caves on Bedrock and Minecraft PE: the honest answer
Searches for an Alex's Caves Bedrock download or an MCPE version are common, so here is the direct answer: the mod's developers publish it for Minecraft Java Edition only. There is no official Bedrock, Pocket Edition or console release.
Why a Java mod can't run on Bedrock
Java Edition and Bedrock Edition look alike, but they are separate programs. Java Edition is written in Java and loads mods through loaders such as Forge, which inject new code directly into the game. Bedrock is written in C++ and only accepts add-ons: behaviour packs and resource packs built with Bedrock's own data-driven tools and scripting API.
A Forge .jar file contains compiled Java code. Bedrock has no way to read it, so no amount of renaming or converting turns Alex's Caves into a working Bedrock file. Anything that claims to be a one-click conversion should be treated with suspicion.
What you actually find when you search
Searching for Bedrock versions tends to surface three kinds of results:
- Fan-made add-ons inspired by the mod. Independent creators sometimes build Bedrock add-ons with similar themes, such as magnetic or prehistoric caves. These are separate projects with their own content and quality. They are not the Alex's Caves mod and are not made by its developers.
- Re-upload and "APK" pages. Some sites bundle a name, a screenshot and a download button that leads somewhere unrelated. These are the results to avoid.
- Videos showing Java gameplay titled as if they were Bedrock or PE.
How to judge a Bedrock add-on that uses the name
- Check who published it. The original mod is credited to Alexthe668 (AlexModGuy) and the artist Noonyeyz. A Bedrock add-on will list a different author.
- Look at the file type. Bedrock add-ons come as
.mcaddonor.mcpackfiles. An.apkor.exeasking to be installed is a warning sign. - Prefer established add-on platforms with author pages, comments and version history over pages that exist only to host a download button.
- Read the description for honesty. A good add-on says it is inspired by Alex's Caves; a bad page claims to be the mod itself.
Your realistic options
If you want the actual mod, the path is Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 with Forge on a computer. Java Edition runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The installation guide covers every step, and the homepage compatibility table summarises what is and isn't supported.
If you only play on a phone, tablet or console, a Bedrock add-on with a similar theme may scratch the same itch. Just go in knowing it is a different project.
A note on "Bedrock 1.21" searches
Bedrock version numbers and Java version numbers move independently, so "1.21" on Bedrock tells you nothing about Java mod support. For the Java side of that question, see our Alex Caves 1.21.1 explainer.
